Shane Black and Fred Dekker bring us 'The Predator'

Last year it was revealed that the 20th Century Fox "Predator" franchise would be getting a revival. I'm sure that this news was met with much dismay amongst die hard Predator fans. The announcement that this new film would be directed by Shane Black (Iron Man 3, The New Guys) and would be written by Black and Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad, Night of the Creeps) certainly has fans excited.

Now, the studio has revealed this new Predator teaser image on the franchise’s official Facebook page with the caption, “Here we go again, bro.” The teaser image also includes the title “The Predator,” which could be the official title Fox may be going with.

Few details are available regarding the new film. John Davis, who has been a producer on every film in the franchise thus far, had this to say regarding the film: “The writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I’m telling you, you’re going to get something you don’t expect and you’re going to say, ‘This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.’”

The original Predator (1987) was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was followed by Predator 2 (1990) which starred Danny Glover. Fox brought together the Predator and Alien franchises for two crossover films, Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (2007). The last film in the franchise, Nimrod Antal's Predators, was released in 2010. To date, the franchise has grossed $587 million at the worldwide box office.

A release date has yet to be announced for the latest hunt.
