UPDATE: BLOOD READ LIVE! gives you a taste of the unexpected!

July 11, 2016:

UPDATE

Due to a scheduling conflict for the casting of the role of Alfred Hitchcock, we will be postponing our July 13th event to a later date in the next few months. We wish to bring you the best experience for “The Man Who Loved Hitchcock," so casting the right person has been very important!

Please stay tuned as we reschedule to a new date and announce our Hitch!

Thank you for your interest and understanding! - Blood Read Live

Worldwide, thousands of films are made and released every year. Some are released in theatres, some go straight to VOD while others collect dust in the studio vaults never to see the light of day. Obviously these films had to start somewhere and that would be the script. Just as thousands of films are put into production there are thousands more that while deemed good never get made. Every director, writer, actor, editor has written a screenplay that they wanted to make but for some reason it just wasn't in the cards. Many of these screenplays can be found and read at your own leisure. However, I'm willing to bet it's a totally different experience when you hear the words on the page read aloud and in one sitting. If you've never seen a live script reading, or were curious to see one staged, you now have the opportunity to do so. BLOOD READ LIVE! will begin presenting live readings of unproduced genre screenplays and they kick things off with legendary filmmaker Larry Cohen.

On July 13, 2016, horror filmmakers Christian Ackerman and Jack Bennett in association with the Group Rep at the Lonny Chapman Theatre will present Blood Read Live, a series of staged readings of unproduced and legendary genre screenplays in Los Angeles featuring talent from the world of horror alongside the members of the theatre. The first event will showcase a reading of indie film legend Larry Cohen’s screenplay, THE MAN WHO LOVED HITCHCOCK.

Larry Cohen will be in attendance to introduce this one-night only special event of his work. The cast will be announced on the Blood Read Live social media sites. Giveaways will be provided by Kritzerland Records, Creepy Company & Scream Factory!

THE MAN WHO LOVED HITCHCOCK is a comedic, murder-mystery about a man who steals the private murder scene notes of Alfred Hitchcock to inspire a killing spree. Teaming with a young renegade filmmaker, an aspiring actress, and his ex-friend & collaborator (Psycho composer Bernard Herrmann,) Hitch must stop the murderer before he kills them all!

About the screenwriter:

Larry Cohen began his career 50 years ago in television, eventually breaking into the independent film scene in 1972 as the writer, director and producer of Bone, starring Yaphet Kotto. A trailblazer in the blaxploitation scene, he wrote and directed Black Caesar (featuring a score by James Brown) and its follow up, Hell Up In Harlem, both starring Fred Williamson. Next, he began a career in horror thrillers, starting with It’s Alive (which spawned two sequels,) and continuing with God Told Me To, Q: The Winged Serpent, The Stuff, Maniac Cop, Uncle Sam, Phone Booth, Cellular and Captivity. His massive body of work always blends a signature style of dread, social commentary, wicked humor, and a truly rebellious, independent spirit.
